      <image:title>ask a medievalist - Have a question for a medievalist?</image:title>
<image:caption>Dan@medievalist.com Twitter Hi, I’m Dan Najork. I earned a PhD in English Literature at Arizona State University, where I have also taught courses on writing and literature for the English Department and presided over the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies Old Norse-Icelandic and Old English reading groups. I am currently a lecturer in the San Diego State University Department of English and Comparative Literature and section editor for medieval content at The Sundial (published by ACMRS). My research focuses on the medieval North Atlantic World and cultural contacts between the British Isles, Iceland, Scandinavia and the wider medieval world. My research often also explores the process and conceptualization of translation in the medieval period and in particular the translation of religious and educational texts from Latin into the vernacular languages of the British archipelago, Iceland, and Scandinavia. My interest in the process and cultural role of translation is also reflected in the study of Victorian translations and adaptations of medieval literature. My book Reading the Old Norse-Icelandic Maríu saga in its Manuscript Contexts was published by the Medieval Institute and De Gruyter. My current C.V. is available here.</image:caption>
